Some commonly asked questions:
Will what we discuss be kept confidential?
The law protects that anything discussed between a client and a psychotherapist be confidential, and information cannot be disclosed without your consent.
Limits on Confidentiality Include:
I use a variety of approaches, as I believe that treatment should be individualized and I do not believe that one approach is best for everyone. My overall therapeutic framework is a systems approach. I also use a strengths-based perspective, which maximizes your strengths. If necessary, I also integrate a mindfulness-based approach, family systems, Eye Movement Reprocessing and Densitization (EMDR), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT) into our work. Mostly, I believe in empowering clients to utilize their strengths. I see myself as the facilitator, and my clients as having the ability to make changes in their lives.
What takes place during therapy sessions?
During the first session, I listen to your concerns. Collaboratively, we will come up with goals for future sessions. I will offer feedback during sessions, and support you during the process. Typically, I meet with clients once per week. However, together we can assess whether you need
more sessions (twice a week), or less sessions (possibly every two weeks). The duration of the session is 50 minutes.
What is your availability?
I work Mondays through Fridays, by appointment only. I offer my clients a highly individualized experience, which includes being available to you between sessions. I typically return emails, calls, and texts between 9am and 8pm Monday-Friday.
If you are having a mental health emergency, call 911 or the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.
